A little time by the lake, an afternoon in Oakland, and a reason to take the scenic route home. Autumn Glory brings all of that together.
This year’s festival runs October 7–11, with five days of fall traditions across Garrett County. Whether you’re here for the weekend or live just down the road, there’s plenty to make time for.
Thursday, October 8: An evening in downtown Oakland
Bring a jacket and head downtown for the Firemen’s Parade at 7 p.m. It’s a chance to cheer on the fire and rescue crews who take care of our community—and enjoy an evening out before the weekend gets busy.
Oompah festivities are back for Autumn Glory weekend, too, with live music and a kids zone. Admission to see the bands is free; kids-zone activities are priced separately.
Friday, October 9: Make time for the music
The Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle & Mandolin Championships begin at 6 p.m. at Southern Garrett High School. It’s an Autumn Glory tradition that brings the sounds of the mountains into the evening.
Saturday, October 10: Morning Market and parade day
Morning Market on 42 runs from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with local craft and food vendors, shopping, and a beer garden at Harvest House. Stop by to browse, grab something to eat, and enjoy a little time with friends.
The Grand Feature Parade starts at 1 p.m. in downtown Oakland. Come a little early, browse the shops, and grab lunch before finding your spot along the route.
Leave a little room in the plans
Between events, take one of this year’s fall foliage driving tours or find a turkey dinner along the Autumn Glory Turkey Trail. Sometimes the best part of the weekend is the stop you hadn’t planned.

Growing up here—and now raising my own family here—has given me an appreciation for these traditions. They’re part of what makes Deep Creek feel like home long after a weekend visit ends.
