Fall doesn’t arrive all at once here. Right now, the hills around Deep Creek Lake are still mostly green, with little hints of color starting to show. It’s a nice time to get outside before the busy October weekends begin.
Take a walk at Deep Creek Lake State Park, spend a little time by the water, and keep an eye out for the wildflowers along the way. You don’t need a full itinerary to enjoy this part of the season.
Autumn Glory is coming up October 7–11, with the parade in Oakland on Saturday, October 10. If you’re planning a visit, check the official festival schedule and leave yourself time to explore beyond the events, too.
