Autumn Glory weekend brings so much energy to Garrett County. Then the roads settle, and there’s room to enjoy fall at a slower pace.
For a change of scenery near Deep Creek Lake, I’d head toward Sang Run State Park. The Bluebird Trail winds through former farm fields, meadow edges, and woods. If you only have a few minutes, the short Champion Tree Trail is another way to get outside. The historic Friends Store and Election House give the park a sense of the community that was here long before our lake weekends.
That quieter side of the season is part of what I love about living here. You can enjoy the festival one weekend and still find a peaceful trail, a scenic drive, and an afternoon with no real schedule the next.
